Nettle compost

When making the nettle 'tea' for compost in the bucket, do I put a lid on the top or just let the air get in and leave open?

I'd cover it. It smells quite bad. Not as bad as comfrey, but quite bad

The smell is shocking. ......I made it last year and was empty retching......ended up tipping it down the drain.

In my experience, if you strain off the liquid after about six weeks, it doesn't smell as bad.  Nettle or çomfrey, you can put the rotted remains in the compost bin.

Just put a good lid on it (I use dustbins) and park it away from the house.
  • Thanks, covering seems to be the general consensus.

Be prepared for when the cover comes off and you are ready to use it   :o
