At this time of year your plants want to grow so just do what you can to trim off the worst and then chat encouragingly to the rest and feed them.   Your garden will recover.
Thanks obelisk, i know all the perennials will be back in no time, and I’m sure I’ll forget all about the lack of spring bulbs before too long. Your rhubarb looks pretty much like most of the garden. I’ll never look at hail the same way again, I’ll be out there with umbrellas and tin hat next time!

It could have been worse though, the people about a mile from my house had to replace the shingles on the roof and the vinyl siding of their houses due to hail damage, and many people had their cars dented and windows smashed.

I imagine the weather is a bit more extreme in general there! It seems to have just hit our village and the next one and nobody else. Our friends have got a plastic covered porch which is now more like a net than a roof!

Sounds like we all have empathy for you, gardening can be oretty challenging. A late frost can ruin many of my shrubs I have protected all winter! Good luck don’t give up!
