The 1000 English bluebells that we planted last autumn are just starting here in North Devon.
Does anybody know if the English ones multiply and spread as fast as the Spanish ones? This is the first time I've had the English ones.
No, that's partly why the Spanish ones are a nuisance, they can out-compete the natives. They're the botanical equivalent of the grey squirrel. Worse really, because they can hybridise which, thank goodness, the squirrels can't. At least the few surviving red squirrels are pure bred. The hybrid bluebells are even more thuggish than the Spanish.
