is this a tree, plant or an overgrown weed?

can anyone advise what this may be please.  'Twas here when i moved in.

    A ribes of some sort?  Maybe?   Are the leaves pungent when you rub them ?

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    Looks like sycamore to me. All three of your descriptions fit!

    I' agree with sycamore diagnosis. I'e just spent several full days pulling up, poisning or mowing the 1000s of the little saplings that mummy sycamore produces every autumn. Personally I'd dig it up and dispose of it

    That's no Sycamore that's Viburnum opulus or similar
