Too late to add/dig in manure?

I have not added/dug in manure last autumn/winter as I still have kale and early sprouting broccoli growing in my vegetable patch. I am hoping to grow some french beans, courgettes and sweetcorn next. (I will start growing them indoors|)Can I add the manure once kale/broccoli have finished? Or best just to stick to adding a general fertiliser before planting out the young plants?

    I always take out a hole/trench and put manure in before back filling and then planting with all my veg, It holds moisture when dry weather sets in and needs less water

    Is it seasoned manure.. or fresh?  If it's over a year old and crumbly with no smell, I would just spread it around on top and fork it in.  As ColinA suggests, a trench will work even better.. it just depends on how much digging you want to do.  :)
