Is this a weed?

I have been told that weeds are plants in the wrong place ! Would like to
to know what this is . Thanks.

    That's Honesty ... Lunaria annua.

    Hesperis matronalis flowers a bit later and has a different shaped and slightly hairy leaf. 

     :)

     Honesty, If you leave it it makes the most beautiful seed heads.

    A weed is a plant that you don't like.
    A flower in the wrong place is a flower in the wrong place. ;)

    We put one down, and it has self-seeded, so pretty good value.

    They self seed like mad, but the seedlings are very easy to identify once they have some true leaves, and easy to remove. Planted one last year in a dry shady spot where little will grow and have lots of seedlings now. I've just thinned them to only keep the ones in the awkward spots. The beautiful seed heads also really brightened up that dark space :)
