this keeps going and I can not stop it how ever much I dig it up and use different weed killers. Any ideas or tips on how to stop it growing through the fence and suffocating my other plants with it’s roots
It looks like ground elder to me. It's a so-and-so to get rid of I'm afraid. No easy solution, just keep digging and pulling it out, and maybe ask your neighbour to do the same.
Thanks for such a quick reply, don’t think I will get rid of it then as the neighbour had loads in his garden and he doesn’t do any gardening at all such a shame might have to volunteer to do his to help mine
Dig a trench along side the fence about a foot deep and place plastic compost bags along to form a barrier, it doesn’t root very deep so just trace it along it root and gently tease out. Try to get all all of it but if you don’t it won’t be so bad next time.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
Good advice from Lyn ; you can also use old roof-slates sideways on and sunk about 3/4 of their depth in the ground . I think it is able to be controlled with Roseate or Roundup , but these are not always nice to use .
