Since we had the snow my clematis looks very unwell. What can I do to help it please??

Never give up on a clematis. I had a Nelly Moser that was stomped on, dug out and cleared by an over enthusiastic fencer.
Two years later I found it doing a tango with a Hydrangea and none the worse for its attempted murder. I am sure your clematis with recover.
As advised, keep the roots shaded.
