Can anyone help id this weed/plant/grass that has suddenly appeared in a patch about 2ft by 2ft on our lawn? Can't seem to find it anywhere in the usual id guides. Many thanks in advance.

It has hollie hock and I'm not a perfect lawn person so not concerned if it's not going to be a problem but would like to know if it's likely to take over.

    Luzula campestris I think.

My mother's lawn was full of that, it was a very poorly drained, compacted lawn, is that a problem with yours?

Generally no, but that particular spot seems to have developed a bit of moss as well so the fork and some sharp sand etc needs to be in action soon I think.
