PP  Apparently,  they were the couple everyone went to when they needed something doing,     parcel taken in,  driving somewhere,  going into hospital,  they used to help everyone.  When the woman was very ill at some point no one went any where near, .....hence the name for his house.

I heard of a Welshman who called his house "Drws nesa" which is Welsh for "next door".  Caused endless confusion.

My Hawthorne starts that way now and soon will have lots of white flowers and later red berries that turn black before falling. Tree loved by birds and will give dappled shade in summer.  Enjoy.

Hi all, so, some of the blossom is starting to come out. Do we still think it’s a hawthorn?

I think so. Looks like Crataegus Laevigata Rosea Flore Pleno.

My grandparents had one of those in their garden which they called a Midland hawthorn, beautiful tree.
Ne'er cast a clout 'till May be out. :)
