Confused

Why does my Amyrillis always  send up leaves before flowering ! They always flower well but always leaves first are they just confused ! Thanks Tony.

    I thought all amaryllis did that.
    I've never seen one flower before I got a few leaves.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

    The one I got this year (Red Velvet) has had two flower stems. The second one finished several weeks ago and it still hasn't got any leaves to speak of - just a tip showing!

    Interesting because the one I got this year had 3 flower stalks and now has lots of leaves.  Everything I've ever read about them was that the leaves came after the flowers had finished.

    Could it be that new/ young plants are forced to flower earlier, and old plants about 5 yrs old are behaving like they should. Tony.

    I wonder if the new bought plants are forced into flower early, and older plants like mine about 5 yrs are behaving more naturally perhaps? Thanks Tony.
