Climbing roses - horizontal or fanned ?

thedjjjthedjjj Posts: 84
Hi,

lets say we have a 7.5 m long fence, standard height.

To achieve best mass flowering, is it best to plant one that will
achieve the full length in height, trained horizontally across the fence - or plant multiple at regular intervals fanned sort of diagonal in each direction to cover a section each ?

In my opinion Paul Zimmerman's videos are the clearest explanations of how to train and prune climbing roses ... there are several ... this is one of them

I have been wondering about the old advice about not having two branches rubbing, so didn't know if you weave them over each other - if it could cause abrasion and so disease. It seems you can weave them against each other without worry. Thanks for the link
