failing jasmine

I planted 2 jasmines a couple of weeks ago. Neither are shooting very well, and when they do, the tip then shrivels and dies off. One is in a worse position than the other, with the added problem of some of the upper leaves having been nibbled around the edges. I cannot work out what's wrong. I have put down some vine weevil killer, and also sprayed with horticultural soap in case caterpillars are eating the leaves. But  i cannot understand why the tip keeps dying off. Please can someone offer some advice here.

What type of Jasmines are you growing and are they in pots or in the ground? Nibbling around the edges are quite rare for Jasmines so a photo of them will help to see the type of damage.

In some parts of the UK, Jasmines are classed as tender plants and need protection over the winter to early spring time. Shrivelling at the ends could be wind or cold damage or plants are not properly planted into their positions and failing to thrive. Is it newly planted or quite an established plant?
