I'm after a couple of medium size repeat flowering fragrant shrub roses for a south facing border, but the choice seems vast and I don't know where to start! Any suggestions please?
What colours do you prefer? Penelope is a gorgeous apricot-pink, Buff Beauty is supposed to be good, Margaret Merrill (cream) smells divine, Gertrude Jekyll (deep pink) Winchester Cathedral (white) Little White Pet (also white). I also have Blue for You which flowers ita socks off, but it doesn't cope well with south facing places so I may move it this year.
Another vote here for Buff Beauty ... a large shrub rose that flowers and flowers, lovely scent and healthy foliage ... I've grown it in three quite different gardens, it's performed well in each It also strikes well from cuttings

Do some research into growth types as well. Some are quite upright, others flop every, some make thick bushes, others are quite sparse so you need to choose to suit the space you have, no use just cramming them in if you want the best results in flowers.
For fragrance the David Austen range are very good but colour and form, single double etc. will need to be taken into account.

I'd agree with Gertrude Jekyll which is regularly voted the best perfumed rose.
