Lithodora care

i have a Lithodora blue star, which has got quite leggy through the winter. Can or should I cut it back to stimulate new growth from the centre? It was amazing last year, but I don’t know the best way to treat it to get the best out of it in the second year. Thanks.

    Hello Glenjjones. Yes you can cut it back to tidy it up and then give it a feed. Top dress with some ericaceous compost.

    Though often seen as small plants sold alongside alpine-plants ; they are however scrambling shrubs requiring neutral to acidic soil in dappled shade .
    If you wish to restrain its rampant nature , trim stems back about halfway immediately after flowering . This will encourage denser growth .

    Thanks both. I’ll give it a trim and see how it goes. I’m happy for it to rampantly scramble through the border, but at present it has long thin stems with only leaves and flowers on the very ends. I’d like it to scramble, but look good while it does it. We’ll see what comes of it.
