Weed or not.

I'm not sure if this is a weed, can somebody tell me what this plant is, it's growing all over my garden I want to get rid of it

    arum italicum. Wild flower or weed, you choose.

    I hate the stuff, it just takes liberties and spreads across your garden before you know it, I wouldn’t advise it where children are, the red berries are so attractive and poisonous, and boy, does it hang on when you try to dig it out! 😀

    Or the native arum (Lords-and-Ladies, Bishop-in-a-Pulpit and no doubt many other names) Arum maculatum?

    I like 'em! But certainly not safe, as @Lyn says, where there are children.

    We found our 2 year old with a mouthful of the bright red berries a few years ago. Panicky trip to A&E followed. The doctor said that he would have been sick before he had eaten enough of them to cause a problem. Pretty scary though. We have loads of them in the garden, but I used to chop off the flower stalks after that. Now they are older I don’t bother, and consequently they are popping up everywhere

    Thank you for the info, we don't have little ones anymore so no worries. I'm going to attack them with a weed killer.

    Please refrain from using a weed killer,  Sandy.

    OK, I now feel guilty about weed killer so will try another way.
