Clematis avalanche

Can anybody help please we have a clematis avalanche that was about to flower it's Darryl been in the ground for three years but this year all the sudden delays have started to turn brown it has buds for the flowers  The greenery is dying off though or it appears that way should we cut it back to near the base and start again or any other suggestions would be welcome many thanks  Geoff

If you've got flower buds, I would wait until they have flowered and then just cut any brown leaves off. It's probably frost damage and mine's the same. I would expect new leaves to appear soon when it's warmer.

Agreed, mine also has some frost damage - they aren't particularly hardy.
