  • Thanks for the quick reply Obelixx. I have the plank. Should I cut grass before or after aerating?

I don't think it makes much difference so go with whether the grass is wet or dry.  Wet grass is harder to cut.

  • Who would have thought grass would be so complicated 🤨😩😂As said by IanC63, it grows easily when you don’t want it 😂.

Great advise all and thank you again.

So an update. I pulled all the weeds had a cup of tea then planted a couple of rhododendrons in my borders instead. Looks like we are going to have a dry week and plenty of sunshine for the weekend so will start on the lawn Saturday.

I know a few have commented on having grass or not and I was also advised on other choices before laying but its rare to have a garden in a flat in london and it was never part of my plan (well budget when I was looking) but i ended up with one so bonus. Growing up in london I have always had a dream of lying in the sun in soft grass in my garden staring up into the clouds and I have a chance to realise that 😎

Lets see where I am at in a year or 2 🤔😂.

Will update you all next week

off to watch the footy now ⚽️

    happy growing all

Really curious to see what it's like now? Have exactly the same problem, grass in similar condition after new lawn laid in September time. Wet winter ruined it, now terribly patchy.
