Camelia

 I had an azelia planted in the garden but replanted it into a pot as the leaves were yellowing. ....it is doing well now.  I was recently gifted a camelia and would like to plant it in the garden....would it suffice to plant it in a large hole filled with ericaceous compost?  Advice please

    Camellia are more forgiving than azalea because they can grow happy in neutral soil PH 7 , the azelea really want it more acidic . Both will not tolerate alkaline / chalk soil. Why don't you do a PH test , they are about £2 from a GC. I have neutral soil and added ericaceous compost to the hole while planting a camellia, I feed once or twice a year with a ericaceous feed as well jsut to keep it happy and healthy
