To Plant a Garden is to Believe in Tomorrow
  • Hi Billy,

I went for Thuja Plicata in the end (Western Red Cedar) and I am absolutely delighted with the results.

I ordered 27, all of which are growing extremely well and are thriving.

I got these from a UK online shop - Greenhouse Sensation. Extremely good service and very helpful on the phone.

I’m very happy with my choice over Leyllandi.

    Thanks, Jack.

That sounds like a really good choice.  Well done.

Thuja p.  is always a better choice than leylandii.  ;)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    Hi,
Sorry for reviving an old post but can I ask how far apart did you plant them and how far away from the edge? Also which size/age did you plant?

    Many thanks
  • Hi there. I planted my Thuja P about 80cm apart and about 25cm from the edge. I planted young plants (about 1 year old) and they’ve grown brilliantly. I’ll attach a photo of them now - they’re due another trim!
  • Looks great.
  • Thank you 😊

Nicely done @brookerjack - you've done a great job there. Much better choice than leylandii which would have been disastrous in that location/site. You can keep the thujas tight without worrying about going back into old wood  :)

  • Thanks Fairygirl, I’m very happy with how they’ve turned out!
