Mahonia effected by cold spell.
in Plants
Mahonias in our region, Lincolnshire, have been effected by the lengthy cold spell and over a week of below freezing temperatures and snow. Most leaves are brown and a number are falling. Would pruning be the best thing to do now the weather has warmed up or should the Mahonias be left to regrow and replace the damaged leaves naturally.

Also in Lincolnshire , my Mahonia had been badly mauled in the mind-numbing winds the other week .
With serious leaf damage evident , you will wait a long time for them all to drop off .
If you look carefully at the main stems you'll probably see new side-shoots developing ; just lop down above these , removing all top-growth . It may look a bit drastic for a while , but it WILL soon recover .
If no side shoots are visible , just lop to the size shrub you require , you'll be surprised how quickly they 'pick-up' .
