Overlaying decking?

My decking is coming to the end of its life but I'm interested in overlaying it with something robust instead of taking it out. Any thoughts?

    If it is coming to the end of its life you must mean it is rotting? If so you would need to overlay it all with new decking if you do not want to lift it.

    Some of it is starting to go at the edges. I never liked it much to start with but inherited it. I'm not that keen on decking generally and it's underpinned by concrete (long story) and I don't want to dig it all out and make it into a massive job. I like the flat surface (on a slope). So I wondered If I could over lay with something else. Thinking creatively...

    But surely it will continue rotting underneath anything you lay on top.

    It's difficult to think of anything you could successfully lay on top of the decking.  Even if it's not rotting now, it will do over time so the base for whatever was laid over wouldn't remain solid.

    Get rid of it, and replace with slabs/bricks.  Might not be that hard if you have a concrete base.  Easier than pulling up the concrete.
