Verbena bonariensis.

josusa47josusa47 Posts: 3,530
I've just planted out a pot-grown Verbena bonariensis which I bought in flower last September.  I left the top growth until about Christmas then cut it to about six inches in case the wind toppled it.  I thought it would have been showing signs of life by now.  Have I killed it, or am I just being impatient?

can you post a photo? Have you fiddled about just below the surface to see if anything is happening there?

Mine haven’t shown yet, they’re very late for me. Give them some more time.

Thanks for the reassurance, I'll keep watching and waiting.  The roots looked healthy enough when I unpotted it.  I live in one of the mildest parts of the UK, but like everyone else, we've had freezing weather and I was afraid spending the winter in the open had done for it.

short lived perennials - they tend to lose their vigour after 2/3 years and have already self seeded near and far
