It won't grow again from the small roots, so as long as you get the main crown of the plant out it should be ok. The problem is that once the fine feathery seeds have floated into your garden from wherever they're coming from, there may be a few springs-worth of germinating weeds to come ... still, one thing for the good is that they're pretty easily identified

We have lots of this too. I don't think it's a perennial so as long as you get most of it up and weaken the plant you should be fine - just keep an eye out for the rest of the seedlings. I'm trying the little and often approach to weeding.
