Nibbled daffodils

Can any one tell me what has been eating the daffodils shown in the photo.  Also is there a remedy?   I have daffs growing in pots which aren't affected.  Also the larger variety of daffs don't get attacked - it just seems to be the small dwarf types but not tete-a-test.

    Slugs. They love little daffs.

    Yep slugs and snails. Mine have been obliterated in the last week or so with all the rain, that mixed with wind & snow. Generally a bad year for them it seems
