verbena bonariensis frost damage

sw2703sw2703 Posts: 2
My verbena bonariensis plants had started to shoot in February and looked healthy. After the snow and freezing temperatures in late February all the shoots have withered and died back. There is no sign of life in any of the plants. Can anyone suggest whether they will recover and re-shoot of have I lost them and need to replace? Thanks

Mine have done the same. I will give them a month yet. They could sprout from the bottom.

I generally pull most of mine up in the autumn - I get seedlings appearing all over the garden usually popping-up late April ish and by summer they're 5-6ft and flowering profusely. They even appear in the lawn

Mine are the exact same. I'll be replacing some as they lose their vigour after 2-3 years anyway so seedlings are the answer

Mine have been under loads of snow this year but I do expect they will shoot up when they're ready. Nil desperandum!

Thanks for the advice. I will wait and see if they re-shoot.
