Help identifying this shooting plant/weed

oldparnoldparn Posts: 1
My partner and I moved into a new house this winter. Both new to gardens and now that spring is here and things are appearing, we're trying to work out what is in this garden!

Can anyone help identify the below, which is sprouting up abundantly over an area of perhaps a metre square in one of the flower beds? I've taken out a few and they are growing from rhizomes which, when broken, seem to be pale pink inside.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts...

Looks to me like persicaria bistorta which produces fluffy pink flower heads later on.   It can spread when happy but isn't too hard to dig out and control if you think there's too much.  Wildlife friendly.
