Has anybody else who own cats noticed that they use a particular plant /shrub/tree as a scratching post? ? Mind can't stay away from the black elder.

  • I'm afraid my two cats favour the carpet, despite all the scratch posts dotted around the house, I get hoarse shouting at them, but it makes no difference, may as well save my breath,at least it's not the sofas as well!!🙀🙀

Cats at our previous place managed to kill two elders by scratching the bark right off. It's a softish bark so I guess it's easy for them to get their claws into.

Next door's cats took great delight in using the legs of my recently purchased swing seat. Eventually covered the legs in netting wire to stop them.

Sofas here, despite having scratching posts at either end.   Minstrel is a terror but Cosmos does manage to use the special posts half the time.   Minstrel climbs the wisteria and scratches them too and several other trees but nothing precious - yet.
