Spring is Stirrirng

Hello Forkers,

Although my garden is still too wet to work on I have washed down the inside and outside of my newly acquired "freebie" 6'x8' greenhouse and spent a happy day last week sowing a variety of flower and vegetable seeds. First up are some yellow cosmos seedlings, only 7 days from sowing to showing. The roses and shrubs are breaking buds and I have newly hatched " taddys" in the pond. A pair of blue tits have begun nesting in one of the boxes on fence and sparrows have been inspecting another box on the shed.

Oh bliss! At last the back of winter and the arrival of Spring is here.

Even if it is pouring with rain and blowing a hooley.

That's lovely, Joyce. You have cheered me up. There are a few signs of better times to come in my garden, too, but it's so wet and grey and chilly that I had forgotten  them! Enjoy your greenhouse, they're brilliant.

Yes it is nice to finally see little changes to let us know that winter has finally come to an end.   I'm just worried that my garden is going to be a disaster this year as I grow all my flowers from seed. .....and they are very slow to germinate......

No seeds germinating here but the stinging nettles are just beginning to throw new shoots so I guess there is some change happening at last. It's suddenly quite mild here - I'll try to send some up towards you PF I'm sure I've got a big desk fan in the garage......

I consider it spring-proper when the ferns begin to unfurl ...

Definitely spring here, magnolia stellata in full bloom as well as cherry blossom and forsythia. Wall flowers about to bloom and the weeds are growing!

Spring is trying its best here but the daffodils are taking a battering from all the rain. A couple of tulips have opened and been battered by this weekends none stop rain.
A few alliums are beginning to poke through, the heathers bring some colour into the garden and the camilia are in full flower.
My seeds, begonia and dahlia tubers are well behind so i needs some sun for them to catch up if they are going to be ready for the garden by May.
