Privet disease

My privet hedge in North Devon is dieing. I think it’s honey fungus.  What’s the best thing to do ?
Do I have to burn old hedge, ?do I have to treat the soil for the next plant ? What is a good hedge plant to replace this?

If it really is Honey Fungus (have you had samples analysed?) then, yes, burn all affected material. Do not compost! Do not send to the tip. Fuller details here.

Thanks, I will check again to confirm that's what it is.
