Solar power in Scotland

Good morning,
Has anybody tried to use any solar-power pond devices such as an air pump or small fountain as far north as Scotland. It would be easy to face any solar panel south, but I am wondering if anybody has managed to make such devices work to any level of success before.
And, of course, if you have, what piece of equipment would you recommend please?
