Cilla, good to see you on here. Please don't panic, let nature take its course. Yes, I do use some bottom heat on my clematis seeds and cuttings, possibly it does speed up germination, and rooting, but when the weather warms up then there is no need for heated benches, in my opinion. But some clematis seeds can be very slow, I have just potted up a batch of tiny seedlings today from a campaniflora hybrid of mine, seeds sown 20th November 2016. Probably Summer 2019 before I see flowers, but well worth the wait.
Thankyou to Richard and everyone else who has replied to my query, it’s very interesting to hear about other people’s experiences. I think I might try some bottom heat on a couple of pots, then leave the majority to do their own thing. I shall grow some aquilegia and dahlia seeds too, they will satisfy my need for new life in the form of Spring seedlings.
