Will this conifer recover?

    Looking at your latest photo, I'm querying why the hedge should go brown on one end but not the other so am wondering whether the big tree behind it is sucking out all the moisture?  You might want to try watering that "dead" patch really well especially when the tree starts to leaf up to see if that helps the green bits that are left. The annual climbers seem a good idea as well.

    Actually that wall looks quite new, was there a shed/building/lorry in front of the brown patch at some stage?

    Not that we know of (not been there that long!). The wall is new but I think it was just a lawn area before.
