Mahonia "Soft Caress" can it be transplanted and when is the best time to do it.

This was planted in a corner of my north facing front garden at the side of the steps in 2013 and this photo was taken November 2016 and I can see its going to  outgrow its spot so I wish to move it and would like to know if anyone else has successfully moved one.
