Pieris dropping it’s leaves after potting on.

Hi all,

I’ve recently bought a small Pieris plant from Wilkinson, I potted it on in Ericaceous compost and have left it in my plastic greenhouse to harden off.
It seems to be dropping all its leaves very quickly, any ideas. Why this is happening?
Thanks

Did you water it thoroughly before re-potting; did you tease out its roots; have you watered it since?

Pieris are quite hardy so maybe it's too warm by day and needs more ventilation.

The plant was probably neglected prior to you buying it. No watering and no natural light...Leaves can drop off when an evergreen plant has been agitated and potted on.

Water it well using collected rain water and keep it out side the plastic greenhouse during the day time. Bring it in at night. Do this for around a week and then just leave it out by a sunny wall. The shrub should adapt to its new conditions.
  • Great, thank you for the advice 😀
