weather damage

my Hypericum st johns wort has suffered damage this year due to the unusual bad weather ,leaves look burnt & dead should i cut this dead stuff away ?

    Which hypericum do you have, Skippy?  Is it one of the shrubby ones?  I have 'Hidcote' in my garden, which grows to 4-5 feet.  Here in west Yorks it loses most of its leaves each winter, and this year it's lost all of them because of the cold winds we've had.  The crispy leaves usually fall off by themselves eventually - like dead leaves on a beech hedge - and will be replaced by new ones in the spring.  
    Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

    Shrubby hypericum is described as "semi evergreen" in the UK.  So sometimes it'll keep its leaves over winter, sometimes not... but it'll survive ok.  I pruned mine a couple of weeks ago to improve its shape, but most years I largely leave it alone.   :)

    The damage is more cosmetic and not actually going to affect your plant this year. As mentioned, they'll crisp off when the weather warms up. But, you can shorten the stems down a bit if you want, but just to remove away the ruined leaves.

    The new buds have already appeared on mine, it seems they aren't overly keen on the winter wind

    Thankyou all ,it's over 15 yrs old think it will survive . :)
