Hi all I'm wondering if anyone has any good ideas what I could plant between my raspberries, we have s large patch at the allotment, im using cardboard to smother some bigger clumps of nettles& comfrey, and leaving some campion, what else could I put in there? Thanks in advance

How big is the gap you want to fill?

    Autumn or summer rasps?

my autumn fruiting raspberries are planted two aside each other but they quickly 'run' to another foot beyond their home.

Raspberries are very shallow rooted so be careful to avoid damaging roots. Maybe some "wild type" strawberries they will spread on their own and give you a different crop. (Can be invasive though).

Thanks fir answering, I have dome alpine strawbs I've e just planted in another bed, maybe I'll shift them, I tried not to damage roots but inherited all these when we got plot a year ago & had a ridiculous amount of comfrey, nettles, brambles in amongst rasps I want to leave a few but it was over run!

    Sorry up north  hadn't see
n your reply! Both types, I tried to tag them so could distinguish & treat accordingly but failed, also failed to support at all so just have a mini field ! It hadn't been touched for at least 2yeats, cut down obviously dead canes& only half cut down rest ( saw interesting advice from Rob Smith to do this) I must get some support in, that is ALWAYS where I fall down!
