Pruning Salvia Hot Lips [Beginner]

Hello,

I have 2 potted Salvia Hot Lips plants in need of pruning and I'm not sure if I've cut them back enough.

1 has some new shoots emerging from the very base of the plant the other not so much.

I have cut off all the dead wood but left any new/green leaves. Should I cut back more and if so how far down should I go?

Thanks!

Personally I would cut it down a little more to a height of 6 to 9 inches, but not yet. Just to be on the safe side I would wait until the middle of April in case we get any more really cold weather. You may find that others say differently though, that's the joys of a forum  :)
  • That's great! :) Thank you very much for the reply. Think the plants are lovely but I have little gardening experience.  Was worried if I cut it right down the brand new leaves I'd end up butchering it. Cheers!
