Tawny owl sat in garden

I found a tawny owl sat on a stone in my garden today. Actually I saw it yesterday too, under some decking. I phoned sspca, who arrived in little over an hour (!) and examined it and took it away. It seemed to have a damaged wing. They said it would see a vet, but there wasn’t much hope. Poor thing.

Surely a good vet would try to save it - a splint for the wing perhaps and hand fed until able to fly again. I am sure our animal charity would do this for such a rare bird.
