I have 2 felco's that I've had for 40+ odd years and still going strong (replaced blades once) a number 2 and a felco 7 with the handle that swivels that is great for my hands.  I swap between them so don't get sore (i have rheumatoid arthritis so hands are a bit feeble) But these days I also need ratchet secateurs and have Burgon and Ball ones. A bit pricy but work very well.  All worth it as it keeps me gardening!

All sharpened with a 50p sharpening stone from local DIY shop many many years back.

I have 3 pairs of Felco, 2 x No 2 and 1 No 4. The 4 isn't as good as the 2 but are very similar. They are all old, I don't sharpen them very often, but when I do I use a stone.

I've also got 2 pairs of Felco, one with the swivel handle.  To be honest I prefer the other pair and don't see any benefit from the swivel grip.

Thanks for all the recommendations. I finally received my new Felcos and love them. Except first use and a wee visit to A&E as cut the finger tip!!!! Gotta laugh

Ha ha yeah they are but I'm not!!!! Was tired after a hard week and trying to plant my last clematis and tie in with twine. Not paying full attention especially after my old crappy secateurs that took 10 attempts to cut. Ouch. xx won't do that again

I've been using Felco 2s for a while now and I wish I'd got them years ago. I have just started to use the leather holster too and that's made them even better as you don't have to use the switch to lock them shut anymore, just shove them into the holster unlocked and they're ready to go when you pull them out again. I could never get the lock adjusted quite how I liked as it was either too loose and kept locking on it's own or too tight to easily use with gloves. I use a Fallkniven DC4 to sharpen them, they also do the DC3 which is smaller and probably easier to use on secateurs.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Great idea Wild edges. Will look at that. I struggle with the locks on all secateurs. Also would stop me throwing them in the compost bin with my trowel on a regular basis xxx
