Help

I have a growth on my damson, I haven't got a clue what it is ! The tree is old and I had to cut off a branch last year because canker I was told. Help please Tony.

    Some sort of fungus, that branch should have been cut back nearer to the main trunk, a stub end like that can only die back and fungi growing is the inevitable result.

    Don't panic Tony, Nutcutlet is right, just cut the branch off much nearer the trunk, to within an inch or so, leaving what they call the "collar" and then wait and see what happens.

  • Ok Nutculet I'll do that. I'm cutting more and more off the tree, I'm wondering if it would be better to chop the old beauty down. Thanks again to you and Lizzie 27.
