  • Sorry for late reply but I have only recently found your reply - in my courrier indesirable box!!
We did buy a John Deere x950r, second hand but in as new condition with very low hours used. Unfortunately it did experience a serious blockage on first use but not because of poor design/maintenance etc. Prior to delivery it had a major service, change of blades etc. I eventually realized that the John Deere specialist servis centre had installed the new blades the wrong way round! When sorted I mowed approx 10,000 sq metres of mixed long lawn grass and 10" meadow grass - all of which was sopping wet. The cut, pick up and high dumping was excellent and so easy. I actually enjoyed the experience.
Where did you hear that the JD x950r suffers blockage problems?

Hello. I bought a 2015 John Deere X950R two weeks ago. It had 380 hours on the clock. I have to say I am extremely disappointed with it because I can only travel at a snails pace with the blades as high as they will go and it still continually blocks, not in the discharge tube but at the exit to the cutting deck. I have now spent 35 hours on this machine and have still made only a 50% impact on the 6 acres which I mow. For sure this machine will absolutely not cut in wet conditions and even in very dry conditions ( we have just had the hottest May day bank holiday on record ) it is frankly hopeless. I am extremely disappointed with this machine.
  • Hello. Unfortunately, like any other communication via Gardener's World, they automatically go into the courier undesirable box and I forget to look in there and have just noticed it.
I'm sorry to hear of your problem with the John DeereX950R, but I stick with my previous comments on this wonderful machine. Wet or dry, 2 ft high thick grass interspersed with sticks, shrubs, etc no problem. I have on a couple of occasions

    Jean Deere?
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I have on a couple of occasions completely blocked the chute but this has been entirely my fault as I HAD FORGOTTEN TO HAVE THE ENGINE ON FULL THROTTLE , have you perhaps done the same.........

  • Hi Lyn etc.It is worse than that, it means that Laposte.net think that G W is a scammer

In reply to Peter's question " Are you still having problems with your John Deere X950R?"

    Hi Peter,

Yes I am. I have been advised by the local John Deere agent that John Deere have now issued another rectification kit which, by the time it's fitted, will cost circa £500 so I am going to be writing to John Deere to ask them why I have to buy another rectification kit just to make what is already a very expensive mower, actually mow the grass.

I also have a Ransomes Parkway 2250 which now that I have got the grass short again I am using so will not need to use the John Deere again until next year. In order to get the initial long grass off this year I eventually gave up with the John Deere and I ended up mowing it with the Ransomes, letting it die back and then collecting it with the John Deere. Consequently, the John Deere is really an expensive grass collector. I am not at all impressed with what is supposed to be a commercial machine. It took me 61 hours to mow 6 acres and get it back in control so that I can now mow the whole lot with the Ransomes in 2.5 hours.

    Regards
