Cistus Florentinus

I had this bought for my birthday 4 years ago and it is getting rather big- about 4ft x 4ft. I need to know if I can cut it back a bit and when is best to do it, considering we are due another cold spell next weekend.

    The RHS says it needs minimal pruning - it shouldn't get a lot bigger than it is now - and to prune it if necessary in "mid to late spring", which I would take to be after most of the frost is out of the way.
    Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
