Can anyone help me identify this plant?

hi

we moved into our house last April and the plant pictured was not doing very well. I cut it right back and it grew back again and stayed evergreen over winter but has produced no flowers and is now starting to die back again (photo is the present state)

thanks in advance!

It's a euphorbia, hard to say which one, poor little thing

    In the sticks near Peterborough
  • Thanks! I'll look it up and see what I can do to revive it!

If you cut it to ground now , it will soon regenerate new and vibrant shoots .

If you cut it down then wear gloves. The white sap is a skin irritant.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    I'd guess at E. Mellifera
    Devon.

Very likely, the hardier ones don't look as bad as that

Thanks! Not quite sure if it will ever survive well in my plot then 😞

If it looks like that it's not worth the garden space. You need plants that do more than just survive to make the garden look good. There are many much hardier euphorbias that look good all the time

Oh well, at least I can have fun choosing what will replace it!
