gouldahgouldah Posts: 34
my husband and I have put in a new pond and I would like advice on which plants to avoid because they become invasive and thug like!

Thanks.

Bulrush, iris pseudacorus, some of the oxygenators such as crassula.  Ask a reputable aquatic nursery.

Have a read of this which mentions goodies and baddies altho much depends on pond size - https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?PID=839

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

This is a useful leaflet and includes plants to avoid: http://www.wildaboutgardens.org.uk/resources/leaflets/WildlifePondPack.pdf

I've found the RHS advice Obelixx suggested really useful too.

Cheers for the link. I've made mistakes with pond plants in the past. One, whilst beautiful was a prolific self seeder and spread its seed into my flower patch. I kept it for two years before finally running out of patience with it.
