Hi, Does anyone have any idea what this is? Was the only survivor under a weed free membrane 5 years ago when we moved into this house, which seemed to suggest it was a weed.

I usually pull it out a couple of times a season and it's slow to return so not too much of issue but am just wondering if I'm missing out on anything worthwhile. I have never let it get much bigger than this as I'm afraid if it flowers and it is a weed it may spread.

I think it is possibly a trillium. When the leaves open a bit more, if they are in threes, that would confirm. If you let it flower, if you don't like it, just dig it out before it seeds.

Looks more like an Arisaema or certainly one of the aroid family.

Arisaema sp or Dracunculus vulgaris.

If this photo is taken now I'd say Dracunculus vulgaris, it gets moving before Arisaema

Thanks for all your help, it does look like a keeper. I may have to move it though as not sure it will look its best in a border of pale pink roses and pale pink and white herbaceous perrenials.
