Delphinium Seeds

Claire204Claire204 Posts: 173
I collected some delphinium seeds at the end of the summer and have sown the seeds today - any tips for success as this is my first attemp?
Thanks in advance.

I've always sown delphiniums so they get a bit of cold before the weather warms up.

I put mine in the fridge for a couple of weeks, germination rate improved vastly.

Might try that myself, never had any luck with delphiniums, mind you putting them outside for a few days should sort them out at the moment.

Mine get sown in a cold GH before end of winter. Along with many other seeds

I'm new to this so bare with me 🙈 is it just the seeds that need to get cold before sowing or should I leave outside after sowing for a day or two?

If you have a cold frame put them in there and leave them there. Or outside somewhere sheltered from too much rain. I find grit on top holds it all together. Many hardy perennials need this treatment. Windowsills and propagators are good for the less hardy and some annuals
