    Thankyou so much for all of the very useful comments and tips. I have done some pinching out, have looked at the Roger Parsons website (and will no doubt spend some money too!), and I am now waiting for the snow to disappear from the garedn before I start hardening off during the day. I am also going to start thinking about getting a cold frame and starting my sweetpeas in October later this year - I think I just need to have faith in their hardiness! Thankyou again to everybody who has taken the time to respond.

    Have faith haha.  Roger Parsons sweet peas are no more expensive than others, but I have found a much better germination rate. Have a look at the site for making simple cold frames, shown on GW, cheap as chips really easy.  My hubby made ours from our old wood bathroom window, just one scaffolding plank, and a couple of hinges.
