Anyone out there growing this?

I'm looking for an evergreen shrub to fill a part shade spot and saw this at a local nursery today.  Done a bit of research and it looks fascinating.

I'm in the south-east on some sticky clay by the way.

I will be ordering the Flambeau one next week. I’m going to try them in a pot. I’m on a south aspect but believe they also enjoy semi shade and mainly growing them for evergreen interest and the lovely flowers. If lucky, looking forward to the fruit to use for making muffins. In the ground, I suspect they will need free draining soil and some protection when young but once established they can be hedging shrubs.

Your SE location may be suitable , but i don't think your soil would be ideal . Most Myrtles prefer a well draining loam , M.ugni is no different .
I used to grow this in E.Lincolnshire ; relatively hardy in a sheltered locale and very attractive when well-grown . Unfortunately mine succumbed to the 09/10 winter when we saw several concurrent nights of -14C , and never getting above freezing for a week .
If you attempt it , why not try it it a large pot (at least you can then modify the soil if need be)! They prefer partial sunshine and ample moisture , preferably rainwater .
Sorry , can't really say more than that !
