Hi, I have a lot of long stalks still sticking out of my nz flax, flowers long gone, but when can I cut the stalks out or do I just leave them?

I was looking at this you tube link, seems to be the correct way.

I use loppers to cut them close to the base. I also pull out any dried up or rotten looking leaves. Wear thick leather gloves for this, the leaves can cut you if you are pulling them.

thanks for that, the plant is getting out of control I think. Had some lovely flowering stalks last year, is it the right time to cut them now?
